Rocket League is gearing up for its third season as a free-to-play game, promising a month-long festival of real-life racecars crashing through the game's wacky car-soccer fields. There's a lot to be excited about with the promise of NASCAR and Formula 1 crossover cars entering the league. Rocket League Season 3 will begin in just over a week for current participants and racing enthusiasts who want to see what all the fuss is about.

The Rocket Pass, the game's equivalent of a war pass, is a major part of every new season of Rocket League. Although the complete list of unlockables for this season is still being finalized, Psyonix has announced a new Rocket League-exclusive vehicle to fight the addiction of stock cars and Formula 1 racers. Tyranno is a new car from the Rocket Pass that Pysonix describes as a "master of [the] dash with a Dominus hitbox." The Dominus is already one of the most popular cars in Rocket League, so a new version could pique competitive players' interest.

A racecar-themed season will be incomplete without a track, which will be provided by DFH Stadium (Circuit). DFH Stadium is Rocket League's Smash Bros. Final Destination - the ground that receives the most play and recognition. The Circuit version adds a racetrack along the field's edges and a racing spectacle to the stands. Players will not receive bonus points for completing laps during daily competition, but it's a nice touch that fits in with Season 3's NASCAR theme.

Rocket League Season 3 Launch Date & Details

Season 3 of Rocket League is scheduled to debut on April 7, but the main event will not be available right away. The NASCAR and Formula 1 cars will both be released in the middle of the season, with NASCAR bundles arriving in early May and Formula 1 in mid-May. It's uncertain how much of the NASCAR and Formula 1 overlap will bleed into the Rocket Pass and how much will be exclusive to the premium packs, but we'll find out as the season progresses. Since most Rocket League seasons last three to four months, players will have plenty of opportunities to win racing-themed awards.
